Physical security

Hi all,
Had an incident with a camera on an outbuilding being vandalised allowing the intruder to break in without being identified. What are your views on the best physical security measures? For example, mount the camera on a pole, use steel conduit for cabling, enclose equipment in a steel cabinet etc?
