Camera Choice For Key Front Drive/Porch Location

I would be very grateful for advice regarding camera choice. My intension is to install a four-camera system, possibly more, linked to NAS. I purchased the NAS, a QNAP model, some time back and set it up as a RAID array. Although I purchased it for use with a CCTV system, I’ve been using it in the meantime for video, music and photos and it is working a treat. I still have quite a lot of capacity on it, which should be enough for the cctv system. If I need more, I intend to migrate the array...

Is port 8000 required for email notifications?

I've had my 7608 setup and running fine for about two weeks. Email notifications were working just fine, and I opened the correct ports on my router. Due to several illegal login attempts, I closed all ports except the server port on 8000. Email worked fine. Then with more illegal login attempts, I changed the server port under network settings to port 8885, and made the corresponding change in port forwarding in my router. HIKVISION DVR DS7608NI - Showing as 'unknown' on Router

Hi all,

My HIKVISION DVR DS7608NI which is connected to a Sky router, displays a device name of UNKNOWN in the router management page. Can anyone suggest how this can be amended? I can identify it via the MAC address so its a fairly cosmetic issue, just annoying!

I have looked through the setting sin iVMS4200 on my desktop PC that I use to manage the device over wifi but nothing seems obvious.

iVMS and Error 302 Camera not connected

I am using iVMS V2.8.1.4 and the software does not connect to the camera when first loaded. If I back out of the software and try again the camera connects and the live view appears.

I'm using Dell XPS15/Win10/Edge

Any suggestions please.

Hi,

I've got a DS-2CD2142FWD-I on my home network, it's the only camera I have.
  • Not using a DVR, camera isn't set to record
  • Gigabit network, using PoE
  • Using Hik-Connect for DDNS and the Hik-Connect app on the iPhone
The main stream seems to randomly switch from 2688*1520 down to 1280*720P and a decent framerate and bitrate down to 10fps, and 512Kpbs.

If I change it to what I want it seems to "save" OK and live view looks great. Then a day or two later I notice that...

Remote Backup tool to Cloud Storage?

Can you make the backup continuous so that every new file that is written to the NVR hard drive is then backed up to my PC which is being synced with the cloud? We have 300MBit fibre to the front door broadband so i am not worried about thrashing the network

Hi, Please excuse me if this has been answered before, I searched for it but couldn't find anything.

I'm looking for a 16 channel Hikvision NVR.

I notice that the DS-7616NI-I2-16P comes in two versions, one with POE capability (-16P suffix) and 16 POE ports on the rear and one without POE capability (no -16P suffix) and just a gigabit network port on the rear.

I combine all my Hikvision network cameras externally at a central point using POE switches, so don't use the NVR POE ports and...

Hi all,

After realising that setting up a NVR system would be so much easier for me vs DVR. i have chosen to go down this route. I require potentially 3 bullet cams (or 4 ) and maybe a dome (but i am not too sure how i can install this on the Porch?

So few questions for you...

1) Which NVR would you recommend?
2) What kind of specs should i be looking at when looking at IPTV Cameras
3) If i do the following set up

Milesight have just this week released a new NVR firmware, 7x.9.0.2 introduces support for VCA functions which means that you can now control the VCA/Smart Event settings of your Milesight cameras from the NVR.

Hi guys, pretty new to the scene...

I have purchased a DS-2CD2385FWD-I

I have connected it to the back of my BT HOME HUB 5.0 using a CAT5e patch cable.
The camera doesn't seem to power via the cat5 so I have powered it separately with a 12v 2a plug. (The red light shows when its plugged in)

Downloaded SADPTool and activated the camera.

Typed in 192.168.1.64, logged in successfully however this is the picture I get on my PC browser...

Hello, please can someone help me out on this problem? I tried resetting a HikVision Network Cube camera, but instead the camera get stuck at rebooting and now I can not access it via the SADP tool. Please anyone with a solution?

Hi people,

I wonder if you can help at all?

I installed a CCTV camera (on the side of my house) pointing at the street after my car got broken into and a few of the neighbors cars as well, they were OK with it, before I installed it I went and spoke to them about it and they totally understood why I was installing it.

I was concerned at first that I might be breaking the law, but after reading on the Gov.co.uk web site regarding CCTV then I think I ticked all the boxes.

simple Hik-Connect question

I have just set up one camera which is connected to my router and pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy the iPhone app was to connect and start streaming.

However I will primarily be using my laptop to view live footage.

Its occurred to me that as long as the camera is connected to my router and I have 'Enable Hik-Connect' enabled then the camera will constantly be using my bandwidth and sending data 24/7. Is this true?

If so, is it wise to only Enable Hik-Connect when essentially...

hi, just after abit of information really, ive set up my -
  1. HIKVISION DS-2CD2355FWD-I | 4MM
  2. S-2CD2T55FWD-I5/B | 4MM
all work perfect during the day and even at night but ive noticed i cant see any licence plates as it seems over exposed is there something im missing in the camera setting, ive tried speeding up the shutter speeds but seems to wash out the image completely.

any advise will be greatly appreciated...

Just to check is there any way to trigger an email or alarm when my camera is not recording in ivms. As I set all my nvr to record continuously.

I have the size of about 388 camera across 22nvr
It's hard for me to keep track of all camera

Hi Guys, my first time here, Retired a while ago, my last install of cctv was long ago, co-ax, external power supplies, CRT screens etc.
Decided to fit cameras at home, using Hikvision exir network turrets. Fitted first one yesterday, fairly pleased with picture quality, but overnight the lens misted, reading other posts it seems this is not uncommon so hoping this will clear. I'll keep you posted!
